Women rifle day 2 - 3 x Norway
Day two of the Swedish Cup saw the rifle shooters back on the line with early finals on the schedule. While the drama decided by tenths of a point was less intense than on the opening day, the outcome at the very top was strikingly familiar – the gold medals were a repeat of day one.
Sunday’s qualification rounds delivered impressive score levels across the board. In the women’s rifle qualification, Jeanette Hegg Duestad (Nøtterøy) once again set the standard, topping the field with an outstanding 636.6 points, well clear of the 626.5 points required to reach the final.
In the men’s qualification, Erik Sahlin (Gothenburg) emerged on top with 634.8 points, where the cut for the final stood at 627.8.
Among the juniors, Pernille Nor-Woll (Kisen) dominated the women’s junior qualification with 634.9 points, while Sebastian E. Johnsen (Nøtterøy) led the men’s junior field with 626.4 points. Final qualification required 624.2 points in women’s junior and 617.3 points in men’s junior.
Three Shooters, Three Repeat Victories in the First Final Session
In the men’s junior final, Anton Salomonsson (Össjö) took immediate control with 53.0 points after the first five shots and never looked back. He eventually claimed gold with 251.3 points, ahead of Markus Knuts (Gefle) on 248.6, who finished second for the second consecutive day. The bronze medal changed hands this time, going to Storm Franzén (Kolding-Bramdrup).
The women’s junior final once again developed into a Norwegian head-to-head decided in the final shots. Just as on day one, Pernille Nor-Woll (Kisen) held her nerve, winning with 252.6 points against 252.0 for Synnøve Berg (NTG Kongsvinger). Linda Koselainen (Simpeleen Hahlo, Finland) secured the bronze.
The men’s final began with Jack Rossiter – Australian by nationality but competing for Kisen, Norway – setting the early pace with 53.3 points. However, Victor Lindgren (Sjöbo) gradually closed the gap during the following five-shot series and then took control in the shot-by-shot phase.
Lindgren ultimately claimed victory with 253.9 points, ahead of Rossiter on 251.9, while Erik Sahlin, silver medallist the day before, finished third.
Duestad Dominates Once Again
In the second final session of the day, Jeanette Hegg Duestad (Nøtterøy) once again delivered a commanding performance in the women’s final. Leading from start to finish, she showed no mercy to the rest of the field and secured gold with 253.7 points.
Behind her, Mari Bårdseng Lövseth (Stange) claimed silver on 250.1 points, while Milda Marina Haugen (Kisen) took bronze – completing an all-Norwegian podium. The best – and only – Swedish finalist was Lovisa Bjare (Botkyrka).
Running in parallel was the SH2 final, where Therese Lövhaug (Stange) controlled the competition throughout. Opening strongly with 53.1 points, she went on to win with 253.9 points, ahead of Johanne Gommesen Hansen (Parasport Denmark) on 252.6. Philip Jönsson (Mariestad) secured the bronze medal.
The veterans’ final will be decided later in the evening, alongside the pistol finals, starting at 6:00 PM (18:00).
