On Saturday we will open the 2025 season at home against a new opponent. It will be this clubs first game against a danish team and we are looking forward to take on the reigning danish champions in their first ever league game in the Swedish capital.
In the history books this will a tough contest against a team that have won a lot in Denmark while we are only in our second season in the Swedish top division.
But I firmly believe that we have the talent on our team to compete and win against any team when we play our best.
Going into this game and season we have done a lot of changes both to our coaching staff and roster, we have added some talent from other teams as well as we have seen a couple of players either retire or go to other teams.
We have a big and in many ways new staff around the team but we are getting more and more aligned with the common goals and how we want to achieve them. Play smart football in all phases and put our players in the best position to have success and win.
Players to watch in AIK:
I would really like to mention all of our players who have been working really hard this pre-season and I truly believe we have some players that will surprise a lot of people in the sport.
But to mention one offensive and one defensive player for this game I would say that I truly believe that Will Runesson on the offensive line and Henrik Sköld Söderberg on the defensive line will have big impacts in this game.
I hope to see a lot of AIK and Swedish American football supporters at Bergshamra this Saturday, 16.00.
Regards
Anders Johansson
Head coach AIK Amerikansk Fotboll.

On saturday AIK welcomed Copenhagen to the superseries for the first time in a cold and chilly Stockholm.
Our defense showed that they are to be reckoned with from the very first snap of the game. After a "3 and out" showing on Copenhagens first drive our offense got the ball in a good starting field position. And on the very first offensive play we could score on a deep pass from Max Lambert to Morris Rewelj.
But from a great start for AIK the playing field evened out a bit and Copenhagen could score after a good field position from a blocked punt.
At halftime the score was 6-6 since both teams missed their point after touchdown attempts. And both teams struggled a bit to move ball consistently on offense.
In the second half AIK would seem to come out stronger on offense and could score after a long drive on a pass to Josh Hicks, and after a successful 2 point conversion by running back Lukas Sjöström the scoreboard showed 14-6.
AIKs defense played really well and especially the DL with sacks from Henrik Sköld Söderberg and Will Njie Runesson.
So offense got the ball back in the fourth quarter and Joshua Akena could score on a 42 yard rush.
Copenhagens offense made a push down on AIKs half but after a penalty they hade to go for a deep pass on fourth down that was batted down by Leander Mrowka in the endzone. AIKs other corner Denny John hade a few great batted down passes as well!
AIKs offense would manage to score yet again on the following drive which was very long and chewed out quite a bit of the game clock before Josh Hicks could score yet again on a pass from Max Lambert.
Always good to finish the game strong and walk away with a multiple score victory but the first half showed that we have a lot of areas to improve on the coming weeks.
