Chairman’s End of Year message
Looking into the 2025 rear view mirror, as team Känsla FC lifted the inaugural Cosmos Cup trophy yesterday in Torvalla Sports hall, I have to reflect upon a most incredible 12 months.
Where do I even start?
Possibly the most outstanding achievement has to be promotion!
After winning promotions from divisions 6 and 5 and after spending six years in division 4; to win the league this year and open the gates to play district football in division 3 next season, is truly a magnificent moment on our journey.
In becoming division 4 champions we achieved 50 points with a goal difference of +60 and had an exemplary disciplinary record. A fine reflection on the hard work, dedication and resilience shown by everyone who has played their part in our success since 2018.
Yes, 18 men played in the final game on this part of our journey, but so many have gone before and made those 90 minutes possible. To all of you, I say a heartfelt and huge THANK YOU!
But that is only part of the football success story this year.
We assembled a great group of young women-the Supernovas, as we call them. We entered the Korpen league. It was a fantastic experience for them and Cosmos and one which we will build upon in the coming seasons.
We plan that 2026 will see the rise of our Supernovas. We hope that they will become a powerhouse on the field and a beacon of hope and possibilities for all aspiring young girls and women in our Torvalla community.
Community Ball
Summer Ball on the Calendar.
In the Summer of 2022 we held our first Summer Ball sessions. And, for the past four years we have been able to sustain and develop our programme. This year, over the entire Summer school vacations, we had high numbers of mainly younger children having fun, learning and making friends. The joy in seeing young people mix together, play, compete and become a part of each others lives, is priceless.
The big big difference this year, was that we held all the sessions on the new Torvalla Community Field (Råplan, as it was previously known)
It has taken 4 years to finish this project but what a fantastic new pitch we now have-for everyone to use. We can only imagine the memories which it will create throughout the coming seasons.
2025 saw the start of School Ball.
Under the guidance and leadership of Cosmos players, the program for the younger kids has happened every Wednesday evening in Torvalla School, including open sessions for girls on a Monday evening. We also instigated sessions in the Autumn term, at Innovita School. A great development with a wonderful bunch of girls.
Spontaneous Ball
I must be honest and say that we did not plan this new addition to our community work.
But when the opportunity came our way and we were asked if we could ignite this faltering initiative for the benefit of any children in the city-well, we simply jumped at the opportunity.
And what an opportunity it has become!
Wow!
Last Saturday night, with an amber gale warning in place and a wind chill temperature of -16 outside, the atmosphere inside the OP Hallen was,as always, quickly rising and the fun factor was super high.
Again, under the guidance of, as with every Saturday night, our experienced Cosmos leaders, over 60 young people were having a great, great time. And the most rewarding part- children from all and every club in the city compete and play together in mixed teams, mixed ages, both boys and girls.
Spontaneous Ball is the way forward-for sure.
Night Ball grows bigger!
Night ball. Well what can be said?Coverage on local and national media, appreciation from the football and non football community in the county and, as we are in the middle of this winters program, numbers remain incredibly high both on a Friday and Saturday evenings.
Often attracting in excess of 150 young people both playing and watching each weekend, Nightball has established itself as a social fixture in Torvalla life.
Our next challenge might be to expand the scheme to a City Wide initiative. Can you imagine 300 to 400 young people gathering every winter weekend to meet, play, socialise and just have a great time.
“Ostersund…Sweden’s first Nightball City”
Now that really would be a headline.
In July, the Nightball leaders were honoured to receive the Regional Councils award for Social Health initiative.
In deserved recognition of the impact of their work within society.
The framed award will be displayed proudly on the wall, in the social area of our new Community House
Torvalla and our NEW HOME
Yes-you read it correctly
Displayed in our new Community House!
The dream is becoming a reality as our new home has been designed and is currently being approved by the Kommun planning department.
In September we were successful in our applications to both RFSISU’s ’New Initiative’ fund and to Allmänna Arvsfonden ‘ Local Support Fund’
As a club, we are so incredibly pleased and proud to be able to be inject around 13 million SEK by way of a generational community investment.
In a short while, it will rise from the ground and stand magnificently at the side of the new football plan in Torvalla.
A genuine game changer-not just for the Mighty Cosmos, but for the whole of the Torvalla community. A centre of excellence, yes!
But also a meeting place for everyone to enjoy, have fun, and to learn.
A place where everyone will be welcome.
A place where everyone should feel at home.
A place where the young and not so young will gather and together, create something really special for this and future generations.
We are aiming to hold an opening ceremony in August 2026-if all goes to plan.
Rumours are already circulating about a very special -and I mean very special-guest who will cut the ribbon.

Running, Meeting, Talking
Another first!
In June, the running section of The Mighty Cosmos entered a team in the St Olavsloppet. We finished in style. We did a good time. We had such good fun. Huge congratulations to all our wonderful team runners. But, of course, being competitive, our thoughts are already on the 2026 race. Can we win it? Let’s see, in June. We will certainly give 100%, as we always do.
Hearts. Heads. Hopes.
On two occasions this year, I personally had the pleasure of spending time with two of Sweden’s foremost personalities and inspirational speakers.
But, more importantly, so did around 300 guests from all walks of life in Ostersund.
Martin Mutumba was followed a few months later by Nadim Ghazale.
Both their life stories and personal journeys gripped our gathered audiences. Firstly in the splendid surroundings of the LF Jämtland building on Stortorget and then on the evening, inside Torvalla church.
Their shared recollections of their own childhoods, professional lives, societal interactions and, of course, their hopes and dreams for a better society, were gripping.
Two extra ordinary men, with extra ordinary life stories.
For all who were fortunate to attend, we witnessed a thought provoking, often intimate, ocasionally uncomfortable and often extremely humourus few hours.
I thank them both.
Finally, I’d like to thank you for being on this journey with us, this year.
Everyone of you who followed us on social media, not just in our region, but across the planet. Amazing!
Everyone who came to any of our 26 matches this season.
You brought banners.
You made noise.
You kicked every ball and especially celebrated when we won.
To all the players-I thank you. Whether you were in the starting 18 squads or especially those of you who trained all season and didn’t get enough minutes. Keep pushing and Never give up. Please!
To all those who work behind the scenes, week in and week out-to make running The Mighty Cosmos possible. You are worth your weight in gold. You know who you are and I hope I have told you that enough!
And finally, to all of our sponsors and partners.
Those who have been on this journey from the start. Those more recent. Those who joined us this season. And, any who may join the Starship Cosmos in the future-I thank you in advance.
Because you are truly, the thread which runs through our club.
Without your belief and financial support we could not carry on competing and especially supporting our children and community projects.
We have always believed that activities and access to sport should be free at point of entry. That society is the winner when barriers are removed and when everyone has an opportunity to be a part of a positive association and community.
And, you make this possible.
And, as we said from our first moments when we started out on this journey, to this present day “We are Stronger Together.”
Have a wonderful New Year.
Stay safe.
Stay strong.
Until we meet very soon.
Alan
