KS in English

KS (figure skating school) is for children from 4 years and upwards who want to learn and strenghten their figure skating skills.

You need to be able to:

Stand on your skates
Skate forward

A benchmark is to have participated in skating school (SSK) one or two terms, or have the basics described above from skating with family and friends.

In KS you will train skating forward, backwards, arches as wll as simple jumps and pirouettes.

Our coaches are educated at the Swedish Figure Skating Association and all have coaching experience in our club. All trainers speak Swedish and English fluently. Our goal is to give your child a pedagogical and fun experience while learning how to skate.

KS consists of 3 groups:

KS2- 2 days/week

KS3- 3 days/week

KS4- 4 days/week

Every session is 50 minutes. Fys-training is included and will be held in connection to one the ice-skating sessions.

For the younger skaters (4-9) we recommend KS2

If you are 4-9 years old and want to skate more than 2 days a week, we rekcommend Utvecklingsgruppen (UG)

If you are 10 years + and want to skate more than 2 days a week, we recommend KS3 or KS4.

Values

All employees (our coaches) and all voluntary personnel (board and functionaries) follow Swedish Figures skating association values (joy, enthusiasm and community).

Payment policy

You will receive an invoice for the course and the affiliate fee (mandatory for all skaters, insurance is included) after the start of the course. The invoice will be sent through e-mail, Svenskalag/IFK Täby KK.

You registration is binding once you have received the confirmation letter.

If you choose to try one session “Prova på” please let us know if you decide to drop off after this session otherwise an invoice will be sent. This information needs to be sent to info@ifktabykonstakning.se

Practical information

For the skating sessions you need to have:

Functional warm clothes, layer on layer is recommended to be able to adjust if warm or cold.
Avoid wearing hoodies.
Make sure the clothes are clean from sand and dirt as this can be dangerous on the ice.
Gloves
Helmet is mandatory for all skaters who have not passed pin 8.,
Make sure the helmet is a CE-marked and designed for skating (ex, bike helmet is not acceptable).
Come to the ice rink with enough time to put on skates and be ready, dont forget to warm up prior to goin on the ice.
Go to the bathroom prior to the lesson
KS2: Parents/guardians help the skaters put on their skates and thereafter sit in and watch from the stands (the only people in by the entrance to the ice should be IFK Täby personnel).

Skates

You can find beginners skates in sport stores as well as used skates on the internet or second-hand stores as sportbytarboden.se.

We strongly advice to buy proper figure skating skates such as Edea or Risport (sepcially for KS3 and KS4). Please ask you coach for advice.

Stabel skates which go as high on the ankle as possible.
Make sure the skates are sharp.
If you buy second-hand skates make sure that there is still enough surface for sharpening the blades.
If you buy second-hand skates make sure the toe picks are in good shape.
Make sure you have skate protectors to get to and from the ice.
Make sure you dry the skates after the lesson to avoid rusting
Use smooth/soft protectors for storage.

Unfortunately, IFK Täby Konståkningsklubb does not have any helmets or skates to lend.
