"On behalf of EJU President Dr Tóth and the EJU Police and Military Commission I am pleased to inform you that preparations are underway for the inaugural EJU European Championships for Uniformed Services, planned for 21–23 August 2026 in Birmingham, United Kingdom. This event will be hosted in partnership with British Judo.

Before finalising the event structure and confirming viability, we kindly request your assistance in assessing the potential level of participation from your country.

Event Concept (Summary)

Eligibility
Participants must be active members of:

Armed / Defence Forces
Police, Firefighting or Paramedic Services
Additional recognised governmental uniformed services including Customs, Prison Service, Disaster Management, Coastguard, Mountain Rescue, etc.
(This list is not exhaustive and may be expanded at any time. National Federations will be responsible for verifying eligibility.)
Judobase ID will not be required

Age Categories

Under 35
Over 35 (Competitors over 35 may enter both categories, subject to schedule.)

Competition Format

Standard individual competition with the possibility of a team event.

Costs and Accommodation
To support planning, please note the current outline of fees and options (to be finalised but provided here for scoping purposes):

Estimated Entry Fee: €100–€120
Optional University Accommodation: approximately €150 for 3 nights
Optional Airport Transfer: approximately €70–€100
Local Hotels: Links and discount codes will be provided for those preferring hotel accommodation in Birmingham.
