Ytterligare en ny herrjunior har bestämt sig för att börja springa för Mora. Det är 20-årige Laurin Maurer som presenterar sig själv så här.
Dear members of the IFK Mora OK
I would like to thank you for the opportunity to introduce myself as a new member of the orienteering team. My name is Laurin Maurer, and I am highly motivated and excited about the possibility of being part of your organization.
I always looked up to Sebastian Baumann, who is in the same Swiss Club as me, some years ago when he was running with a IFK Mora OK shirt and am glad that now I have the chance to introduce myself to this prestigious club.
My passion for orienteering began about a decade ago, and since then, I have pursued the sport with dedication and enthusiasm. Despite encountering some challenges along the way, I have consistently held onto my passion for orienteering, believing that my journey thus far and my determination provide a solid foundation for a promising future in this sport.
Athletic Background:
Swiss Club: OLC Kapreolo (same as Sebastian Baumann)
Swiss Athletics Club: LC Uster (same as Paula, we do some trainings together)
Part of the Zurich Regional Selection (as Sebastian and Paula have been)

Education and Career Goals:
Bachelor’s in Spatial Engineering at ETH Zurich (expected completion in the summer of 2024). I had the chance to learn some Swedish (A2) during my studies and would therefore appreciate being able to use it sometimes.
Performance in Orienteering:
Despite some setbacks and challenges in 2023, I am determined to improve my performance and continue developing. I have been an EYOC substitute runner (no. 5 in the team) twice, in 2020 and 2022.
Health:
I have overcome some health challenges, including an ankle injury (ankle ligaments on the left foot were partially torn in March 2023). Nevertheless, I have used these experiences as motivation to strengthen my physical fitness and mental resilience.
Goals:
My goal is to further develop myself in 2024 and participate at JWOC 2024 in Czech Republic. I would really look forward to being part of a Tiomila or Jukola IFK Mora Team. Unfortunately, in 2024 the Swiss JWOC selection races are just around Tiomila. Nevertheless, a Jukola participation is possible. From 2025 (as I will be a senior by then) yearly participation for these big relay competitions is my goal.
I am ready to work hard and constantly improve to meet the team's expectations. I value the opportunity to work with an experienced coach like Vojtech Kral and benefit from his expertise. I really appreciate being able to benefit from a winter training camp and the possibility of training in Mora.
I understand the importance of teamwork and am confident that I can make a positive contribution to your team. In conclusion, I would like to express how excited I am about the possibility of becoming a part of Mora. I look forward to meet you all in IFK Mora OK.
