Team for Grand Prix I Polen + semis

Here is the team announced a couple of days ago. Dustin Eaton was in the original team but is still not fully fit. And Neill Erasmus, who has had trouble with an elbow all season, has decided that he is not in good enough shape to face the best teams in Europe. Fortunately for Exiles, he will turn out for them instead. The absence of these two will weaken the team as will that of others who are not available, but the remaining players are about the best we can muster although I still have some doubts about the size of the foreign contingent. Hopefully some of the better teams will be trying out new players for the future, but it will still be a tough weekend for the Swedish boys.

The Swedish Championship is down to the last four with the pairings Göteborg - Pingvin and Enköping - Exiles. Pingvin took 90 points off Göteborg a few weeks ago and there is little to suggest that that outcome will be reversed in the semi. Göteborg have, however, done well to get this far and are a bit stronger at home. Expect a comfortable win for the visitors and an even bigger margin in the return.
Exiles have also run up relatively high scores in recent years against Enköping and are once again favourites to make the final for the 18th year in a row. Exiles will be without up to six players involved in the GP-sevens while Enköping have been getting together their strongest team recently. Exiles have a strong squad of about 25 players, most of whom have played for Sweden. Despite the many absentees, I expect Exiles to take a lead into game two, although perhaps a narrower one than recently.
