4/10 Men's A-team played against EVS. Short recap from the Player of the game Stefan. It’s Sunday and that means another divisional game on the agenda, this time versus Engelholm! After a well-executed teamplay from yesterday’s game against Lunds VK that resulted with a 3-1 win, the boys entered today's game with lots of positive energy. The first set started off with both teams getting to know each other from different duels. The game went back and forth, but Engelholm grasped the first mental strength from consecutive saves and a very nice defence which caught our attackers off guard. Gothia boys battled against a high-levelled Engelholm where they forced our boys to catch up with them to even the scoreboard. A tight set indeed, but the away team closed the first set 23-25. Second set started as well a bit uncomfortable where some sloppy mistakes were made and Engelholm could take the mental advantage right away. The boy's reception was on point today but we simply didn’t kill the ball efficiently enough due to Engelholm’s amazing block and defence. While we struggled to kill the ball efficiently, Engelholm did not. Second set again to Engelholm, 21-25. Third set was about to begin, and after well put words and inspiration from coach Victor, the boys knew something had to change within us in order for us to play better. And what a change it was! Third set again back and forth but this time we gained more energy, and more efficient play from all of our attacks. We upped our gameplay and really stepped up on our teamwork overall, which led to 20-20 where Gothia could take advantage of the mental game and therefor closing the third set 25-22! Fourth set was again like previous sets a bit sloppy, so much that Engelholm had every momentum gained again and pressured us with great attacks and also great defence. This was without a doubt Gothia’s worst set played this season, which led to the results 14-25 and the win for the Engelholm boys. In summary we didn’t trust ourselves within us enough to kill the ball as we had a lot of great rallies which we could finish to keep up with Engelholm. The reception was great, but our attacks and blocks were not efficient enough against a well prepared Engelholm. We will take our mistakes and learn our lesson for next week’s game where we will have another chance for rematch against Engelholm again. //Stefan Nikolic, Middle Blocker Gothia Volley
