ALEX NIZNAK TO PLAY FOR TYRESÖ IN 2016
After a long and thorough search process the Tyresö Royal Crowns have signed Alex Niznak to play quarterback in 2016. Alex joins the Royal Crowns in March to prepare for the season opener against the reigning champions from Carlstad.
Base facts about Alexander Ryan Niznak:
Age: 24
Height: 6´2”
Weight: 230 lbs
College: Central Michigan & Southeast Missouri State
Head coach Andreas Ehrenreichs comments about the signing:
“Our staff has put in a lot of work to identify what kind of player and person we are looking for to play quarterback for us in 2016. The process has taken quite some time, and we’ve used all our connections in the US to find the right guy. Out of about 60 candidates we found Alex to be the right choice, for several reasons. He’s got the qualities we’re looking for both as a player and person. He’s a smart player with the right skill set and physique to run our offense. To us, being a good player is not enough, to be a great leader is of equal importance. Alex fits that description. I’m confident that a lot of people will be surprised how well he’ll represent ´135-football´ on and off the field.”
Offense coordinator Leo Billgren is pleased with the choice of QB for 2016:
“Alex has not seen the field as much as he probably wanted during his college career, and that is probably part of the reason he’s decided to keep playing after college. The film we’ve seen of him (from games and practice, from high school and college) is very good. I’m convinced we’ve found the right man for the task of leading our offense in 2016.
Alex is a true student of the game with a passion for football. During our interviews with him it’s been clear to us that he’s a team player with good values and a strong motivation to perform. I believe everyone watching our games in 2016 will be impressed with his level of play.”
During his college career Alex has represented schools at the D1 FBS and D1 FSC-levels. After graduating from Central Michigan (after three years with a 3.8 GPA) he transferred to Southeast Missouri State. He spent two seasons with the Redhawks in a backup-role.
Interview with Alex Niznak:
Tell the Swedish fans, and Tyresö fans, what kind of player you are; playing style and strong points of your game.
As a football player and as a Quarterback I want to be as prepared as possible to be successful every time I step on the field. I believe in hard work and understanding lead to wins. Physically I want to throw the ball down the field and get it in the hands of our talented play makers as often as possible. If I can distribute the ball quickly and effectively we will be very fun to watch.
What are your motivations for deciding to play football in Sweden, for the Royal Crowns?
When I was looking at where I wanted to continue my athletic career I knew I wanted to be around good people, hard workers, people that wanted to win, and finally people that I could learn from on a daily basis, I found that in the Royal Crowns organization.
What do you know about Sweden so far?
As far as coming to Sweden, as an American I really knew very little about Sweden other than its beautiful landscapes are world famous. The more research I did the more I was simply amazed with all Sweden has to experience. The opportunity to play football, help develop the game internationally, and experience a whole new way of life in Sweden was one I could not pass up.
Tyresö have been a contender each year for the last 5-6 seasons, but have fallen short of the Championship each year. How will you contribute to change that, as a player and leader?
There is an amazing tradition of great players and coaches within this organization. The outreach from current and former members to me since I joined has been humbling and encouraging. I can see clearly that though people are proud of the success in the past, championships are the standard here and I agree with that. I hope to learn from what all the great players before me have done here and then through hard work on and off the field with my teammates and coaches I believe we can stand on the shoulders of the men that came before us and make the organization and fans proud by getting to that next level and bringing home a championship.
A warm welcome to Alex from the TRC-web crew. We’ll be back with an interview with him once he’s landed in Sweden and gotten to know his coaches and team mates.
