Its time to go 5 - 0
LAST WEEK:
On Sunday we hosted a tough Örebro team that has been picked by some as the favourite to win it all this year. It was our first real test of the year and we were happy to come away with a hard fought 19-0 victory. Our defense pitched its third straight shutout, lowering their points allowed per game to 1.75. The offense continued to show flashes of brilliance combined with too many moments of selfdestruction. We will continue to work towards putting together a more consistent attack on offense this week in practice.
THIS WEEK:
We have a short week this week, travelling Friday night up to Uppsala to play the 86ers in what should be a great atmosphere at Studenternas IP. The 86ers showed some explosiveness last week with their new import QB in the lineup and we will have our work cut out for us to try to contain Amat Jobe, one of the top deep threats in the league. On defense, we know from scrimmaging Uppsala in May that they are strong up front, so our O-line will have a challenge to try to control one of the league’s top front sevens. On offense, we need to develop the ability to sustain long drives. We have lived on a lot of big plays this year, which is always a good thing. However, in order to be the team that we strive to be, we will need consistency and better execution every play in order to put long drives together. Uppsala has shown the tendency to play a lot of man coverage, which means that if we can give Dan Selway some time to find his receivers, we can have a big nightin the air.On defense, we will again face a dual threat quarterback in Matt Bassuener. He appears to have been the spark that the 86ers offense had been missing early on and it will be a tough task to keep him in check. We will need to pressure him from all angles to keep him from getting too comfortable in the pocket. Our defense will as always focus on creating havoc with our blitz package and try to cause confusion amongst the veteran Uppsala offensive line.
