We had it all this weekend. A mash up of success and challenge. First up was a home match against Bele Barkaby which felt uphill all the way but the girls "stuck" at it and kept it to 1-2. No mean feat. Perla delivered a superb effort in goal. She wasn't bored. Then we moved on to play Sundbyberg where the inexplicable happened. Quite simply, in the first period we were out-played and out-witted and with 5-1 on the scoreboard I thought maybe we could get 1 more goal and try and keep it 5-2; that sounded much less painful. You could feel the frustration and disappointment and then something amazing happened. The girls slotted in 10 goals one, by one, by one.......... it's never over 'til the fat lady sings and that is one thing we are good at. Never. Giving. Up. Those "feel-good" endorphins were in plentiful supply and the girls almost floated to the changing rooms.
Could it get any better than that? Well, almost. Match 3 of the weekend was against the very talented Huddinge. What had we learned from the 2 matches yesterday? Within 49 seconds we had an inkling. It was game on with Tilda B tapping in a beauty. Huddinge replied almost directly (oops) and then Stella made it 2-1 at the 8 minute mark and it stayed that way til the end. From start-to-finish this team played their hearts out; they blocked, they ran, they passed, they blocked again and again and again. Huddinge kept the up the pressure throughout but when we had the ball we didn't stress it away. Every single player upped their game which was exciting to watch and the girls kept their cool right to the end. Thanks to F06 Skarpäng for loaning "cool, calm and collected" Wilma for this game.
Meanwhile back at the ranch, Alice and Cornelia, Ida, Selma, Elsa and Perla also helped out Skarpäng earlier in the day at Hägerneholmshallen and south of town.
Now this is fun! Isn't it?
